The Air King is a family-owned business built on responsibility, resilience, and showing up when it matters most.
Our story begins in 1989, when our father, Jimmy Assad—the original Air King—made a decisive career change. At the time, he was working long, unpredictable hours in the restaurant industry. When his family faced a serious health challenge and two young children needed him present, Jimmy knew he needed work that allowed him to control his time, honor his responsibilities, and still provide.
With an associate degree in science and years of hands-on experience repairing refrigeration equipment in restaurants, Jimmy took a practical path forward. He studied HVAC fundamentals, earned the required certifications, and began serving the same community he already knew—this time as a service provider. It wasn’t easy or fast, but it was necessary. The Air King grew deliberately, built on consistency, trust, and word of mouth.
As the business took root, Jimmy began bringing his teenage son, Kahlil, along on service calls—passing down not just technical skills, but the values behind the work. In his final year of college, Kahlil asked to take over the company with a clear vision: to grow it beyond a small family operation into a professionally run organization, without losing what made it work in the first place.
Under Kahlil’s leadership, The Air King entered its next chapter. He brought on his cousin, Michael Fawaz, who would later become a partner in the company. Together, they expanded the team, strengthened operations, and built a company recognized for both its performance and its people.
Today, The Air King employs over 100 team members and continues to grow with intention. While the scale has changed, the values have not. We remain committed to doing honest work, investing in our people, and serving our community with pride. We’re proud of where we come from—and excited about where we’re going.
We don’t believe in shortcuts. Our reputation has been built job by job, relationship by relationship, through consistency and accountability.
When I started The Air King, I wasn’t trying to build a big company. I was trying to take responsibility—for my family, my time, and the quality of my work.
I came from the restaurant world. I understood long hours, pressure, and what it meant when equipment failed and people were counting on you. HVAC gave me a way to serve that same community while having more control over my schedule and my commitments.
The company grew slowly. Trust had to be earned. Skills had to be learned. Nothing about it was automatic—but it was honest work.
What I’m most proud of today isn’t just the size of the company. It’s seeing the next generation lead with the same values, surrounded by people who care about doing things the right way.

Kahlil brings on his cousin, Michael Fawaz, who later becomes a partner. Together, they grow the team and strengthen operations.
The Air King employs over 100 people and is recognized as a trusted, award-winning HVAC company—rooted in experience and focused on the future.
