Since 1984 Air King has been Detroit’s Go-To HVAC-R contractor.

  • Company history: Founded in 1984 as a one-man refrigeration company, Air King got its humble beginning responding to service calls on commercial refrigeration equipment. We eventually hired a few employees and then quickly expanded to become one of Michigan’s leading manufactures of walk-in coolers, while simultaneously growing our light commercial division. Our expansion lead us to incrementally larger commercial projects, including sports facilities and gymnasiums (Hype) and ultimately to the multifamily sector, where we found our niche.
  • The refrigeration transition: In 2010 Air King installed its first VRF job! With so much refrigeration experience, VRF was a simple transition. Since then, we have established ourselves as a VRF pioneer in the Metro Detroit market.
  • Quality v efficiency: We focus on uncompromising quality first, then value. Our first source of value is found in our efficiencies. We have streamlined our installation processes and developed specific departments performing their specific works in specific manors. We like to consider ourselves the Henry Ford of multifamily HVAC.
  • Operational structure: Project managers architect our job around your schedule. We carefully plan releases and deliveries, labor demand, specific installation teams - all at the right times. This ensures everything goes according to plan or gives us an opportunity to supplement resources before a delay occurs. The foreman remains on site to ensure day-to-day operations are on track and documents all progress via Procore. Specialized teams including sheet-metal mechanics (rough-ins), pipefitters, startup technicians and finishing crews are strategically scheduled for their tasks. As the owner, Kahlil Assad will visit sites frequently, ensuring the quality of installation is of the highest level.
  • Markets and services: From design assist, plan spec, service and maintenance, we are with you from the start and thru the long haul to keep your building comfortable for years to come. Our popular service and maintenance agreement acts as further insurance that your indoor air quality will remain healthy for the building occupants, the equipment will operate at maximum efficiency to lower energy costs, and the lifespan of the equipment is extended because problems are anticipated and prevented in advance of mechanical failures.
